Leadership

I find the promise in my team. I help each of them reach his/her personal and business goals. I challenge, support and listen.

Starbucks Marketing Organization, I&D Action Team - Founder

In January of 2020, I scaled inclusion and diversity programming I helped establish in our Product Organization to the broader 600+ person marketing organization. I built systems, teams, budget and programming to help drive meaningful progress across inclusion, diversity and equity metrics that also supported our broader enterprise goals. I designed and activated executive workshops, scaled a below director BIPOC mentorship program and established a drumbeat of educational programming that -

  • Increased sentiments of feeling “belonging”, measured by our annual partner survey

  • Established systems for driving leadership accountability

  • Wove I&D into business decisions in Studio, Marketing and Product

Starbucks Product Organization Mentorship Program - Founder

I do not sit idle. I saw an opportunity to support my talented young colleagues in the Product Organization with intentional and purposeful leadership development. I created a sustained program of mentorship to foster diversity and inclusion by selling in the program through the executive team and developing training for mentors and mentees. Working in partnership with the executive team, I effectively matched 26 jr. members of the team with mentors, and since the launch of the program -

  • YOY retention of people of color has increased

  • Career development has accelerated

  • YOY sentiment has increased

Starbucks Product Organization Internship Program - Owner

When I joined the team I saw an opportunity to develop a stronger working relationship with our university recruiting team and develop a world class MBA internship program in the Product Organization.

In my 3 years on the team, I have launched a new intern manager training program and delivered 11 supplemental programs for interns and managers to drive retention and development.

Since the launch of the program,

  • Intern retention has increased

  • Intern recruitment has strengthened

  • Interest in participating as a manager has increased

Teacher & Trainer - University of Washington & Middlesex

Brand building does not just happen in Starbucks stores and down the grocery aisle. Every conversation and event is an opportunity for me to help build the Starbucks brand and deepen our bench of talent. When I touched down in Seattle, I soon realized the University of Washington Foster School of Business was a deep well of talent.

Leveraging my experience as a faculty member at Middlesex, I proactively contacted the Foster School and offered to help teach and train the students by amplifying their curriculum by bringing my experience from Starbucks into the classroom. I have lectured in the Marketing and Consumer Behavior classes.
